Few months ago I found an online indie magazine made by Colombian university students. It is called La Astilla en el Ojo. Their purpose is to promote critical thinking and the talent of the young participants. Their latest edition presents the concept of ugliness, an interesting reflection on current aesthetics convictions or anything perceived as ugly. Luckily, I was able to collaborate with them with one illustration to express what people close to me and I consider ugly. It seems that one of the strongest experiences of ugliness, one of those that stick to you, is one that provokes an emotional reaction of disgust, like the disrespect and abuse humans are capable of on daily basis.
