Design Research Methods | 20/20 Presentation

We were asked to present 20 slices showing a personal collection, something that interests us.

I used to collect many things when I was a child, but I don't do that anymore because I don't have space and collections also collect a lot of dust.

I watch a lot of different cartoons since I was very little. I have some DVDs but I mainly watch them online. It can be said that I am a cartoons collector.

Cinderella

Cinderella. Cinderella has been busy working and couldn’t make her dress for the party. Fortunately, her friends the mice and the birds have done it for her. I always thought it would be nice to get the mice in my house to make me a dress.

Ursula-The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid. Ursula is one of my favorite villains. She is such an evil diva! Now each time I meet someone called Ursula I think she has to be a bad person.

Once upon a time...The Human Body

Once Upon A Time...The Human Body. These cartoons helped me a lot to learn about the human body when I was a little girl.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Leonardo, Donatello, Rafael, Michelangelo and their giant rat master made me start to get interested in martial arts plus made rats look less disgusting.

He-Man

He-Man. By the power of Grayskull!...I have the power!!....Need to say no more.

X-Men

X-Men. I had to add them. I spent a lot of time watching these series and thinking what mutant I would like to be.

Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice. Say his name 3 times and this guy will appear, usually, to cause trouble. Funny, crazy, surreal and gothic.

Saint Seiya

Saint Seiya. The first Japanese animation series I really followed. They helped Athena to defeat the Olympian Gods who wanted to destroy Earth (of course!)

Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon. The air-headed Moon Warrior and her friends, named after the different planets, fight in the name of love.

When I was at school I used to wake up one hour earlier than I had to in order to watch this program and the following.

Ranma 1/2

Ranma 1/2. Ranma transforms into a girl when in contact with cold water. He is a man again if gets in contact with hot water. Some other characters transform into other creatures the same way as him. The story is about Ranma wanting to become the best martial artist and who of the many girls of the series gets to marry him.

The Powerpuff Girls

The Powepuff Girls. They remind me of my childhood friends and me. The organized red-haired always saying what to do, the bad-tempered brunette who didn’t like that and the innocent blonde who is always caught in the middle of their fights.

Tintin

Tintin. Solve mysteries and travel around the world with Tintin and company.

Futurama

Futurama. It has the same kind of humor as the Simpsons but with a Sci-Fi twist.

Evangelion

Evangelion. A very complex story. These guys are the pilots of the EVA units (background) which are used to fight “angels” that attack Tokyo 3.

Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo. Samurai stories mixed with some hip hop and American street culture. Great soundtrack.

Death Note

Death Note. Death Gods, one very clever guy who can kill people by writing their name on a notebook and the weirdest detective ever trying to stop him.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender. These series are the most modern among the chosen.

There are 4 nations: Fire, Water, Earth and Air; and in each one there are people who can manipulate those elements (benders). The fire nation wants to conquer all the nations and only the avatar can stop them as he is most powerful bender who can manipulate the all 4 elements.

The Simpsonzu by Space Coyote on Deviant Art

The Simpsons (anime style). The drawing style makes the same cartoons look completely different.

Dysfunctional Neighbour Totoro by Space Coyote on Devian Art

My Neighbour Totoro (Matt Groening style). Another example of style changed.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? That was the first movie I saw that mixed cartoons and real image.
